Terms of Service
Please read these Terms of Service (“Terms”) carefully before using the zumi website or mobile application operated by wearezumi Limited. By creating an account or using any part of the zumi platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.
1. Introduction & Definitions
In these Terms, the following definitions apply:
- “zumi” / “we” / “us” — wearezumi Limited, registered in England and Wales.
- “Platform” — the zumi website (wearezumi.com) and mobile application.
- “Pet Owner” — a user who registers to book services for their pet(s).
- “RVN” — a Registered Veterinary Nurse who registers to offer services via the Platform.
- “Services” — non-clinical pet care services offered by RVNs through the Platform.
- “Booking” — a confirmed appointment between a Pet Owner and an RVN via the Platform.
2. User Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years of age to create a zumi account. By registering, you confirm that you are 18 or over and that the information you provide is accurate and complete.
RVNs must additionally hold a valid, current registration with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) at all times. zumi reserves the right to verify registration status and to suspend or remove any RVN whose RCVS registration lapses or is withdrawn.
3. Service Description
zumi is a technology platform that connects Pet Owners with self-employed Registered Veterinary Nurses for non-clinical pet care services. zumi acts as an intermediary only. zumi is not a veterinary practice and does not employ the RVNs who use the Platform.
The contract for services is formed directly between the Pet Owner and the RVN at the point of a confirmed Booking. zumi facilitates the introduction and payment processing but is not a party to that contract.
4. Pet Owner Responsibilities
As a Pet Owner using the zumi platform, you agree to:
- Provide accurate and up-to-date information about yourself and your pet(s)
- Disclose any known health conditions, behavioural issues, or vaccination status of your pet that may be relevant to the service
- Ensure your pet is up to date with legally required vaccinations (e.g. Bordetella for dogs attending group settings)
- Provide a safe and suitable environment for the RVN to work in during home visits
- Treat RVNs with respect and professionalism at all times
- Pay for services as agreed at the time of Booking
- Not engage an RVN met through zumi directly outside the Platform for a period of 12 months after their last zumi booking
5. RVN Responsibilities
As an RVN using the zumi platform, you agree to:
- Hold and maintain a valid RCVS registration at all times and notify zumi immediately if your registration changes
- Comply with the RCVS Code of Professional Conduct at all times
- Only offer services that fall within your competencies and the non-clinical scope of the zumi platform
- Maintain appropriate professional indemnity and public liability insurance
- Carry relevant DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) checks and make these available to zumi upon request
- Accurately represent your qualifications and experience on your profile
- Honour confirmed Bookings or cancel within the permitted cancellation period with adequate notice
- Not accept payment from Pet Owners outside the zumi platform for services arranged through zumi
6. Booking & Cancellation
A Booking is confirmed when the Pet Owner has paid for the service and the RVN has accepted the booking request through the App.
Cancellation Policy
- Cancellations made more than 48 hours before the booking start time: full refund.
- Cancellations made between 24 and 48 hours before the booking start time: 50% refund.
- Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the booking start time: no refund, except at zumi’s discretion in extenuating circumstances.
- Cancellations by the RVN: Pet Owner receives a full refund. Repeated RVN cancellations may result in suspension from the Platform.
zumi reserves the right to modify the cancellation policy. Any changes will be communicated to users in advance and will not apply to existing confirmed Bookings.
7. Payment Terms
All payments are processed through Stripe, a third-party payment processor. By using the payment features of the Platform, you agree to Stripe’s terms of service.
Payment is taken at the point of Booking confirmation. zumi deducts a platform fee from the total before remitting the remainder to the RVN. RVNs are responsible for their own tax obligations, including income tax and National Insurance contributions, as self-employed individuals.
All prices are displayed inclusive of any applicable taxes. VAT is charged where applicable and in accordance with UK tax law.
8. Non-Clinical Disclaimer
Important: Non-Clinical Service
All services provided through the zumi platform are non-clinical in nature and are provided in compliance with the RCVS Code of Professional Conduct. zumi is not a veterinary practice and does not provide veterinary or medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
If your pet is unwell, injured, or in distress, please contact your local veterinary practice or, in an emergency, an emergency veterinary service immediately. Do not rely on zumi or any RVN via zumi for emergency or clinical veterinary care.
9. Liability Limitations
zumi provides the Platform on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, zumi excludes all warranties, express or implied, in connection with the Platform and its use.
zumi is not liable for the acts or omissions of RVNs or Pet Owners, or for any injury, illness, or death of a pet occurring in connection with a Booking, except where such liability arises from zumi’s own negligence or wilful misconduct.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under English law.
Where zumi is found liable, our total liability shall not exceed the greater of (a) the total fees paid by the relevant user in the three months preceding the claim, or (b) £100.
10. Intellectual Property
All intellectual property rights in the zumi Platform, including but not limited to the zumi name, logo, software, content, and design, are owned by wearezumi Limited or its licensors. You may not use, copy, reproduce, or distribute any such materials without our express written permission.
By submitting reviews, content, or profile information to the Platform, you grant zumi a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use, display, and distribute that content in connection with operating the Platform.
11. Termination
You may close your account at any time by contacting us at hello@wearezumi.com. zumi reserves the right to suspend or terminate any account at any time for breach of these Terms, fraudulent activity, or conduct that harms other users or the reputation of the Platform.
Upon termination, your access to the Platform will cease. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including liability, intellectual property, and governing law clauses) shall do so.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer resident in another part of the United Kingdom, you may also have rights under the laws of your jurisdiction that are not affected by this clause.
